Some of my extend family

Just wanted to share some photos of my grandmother, my nieces and my cousin little girl. We live 2 hour from them and don't get to see them as much as I would like but still love when we all get together.

The Motions

I hate writing bc I suck at it so much but I love sharing with you all so I will try to write this the best I can. I would like to explain in detail more the reason why I have chosen to homeschool Will. The main reason is bc I want to obey God and I do feel he is calling me to do this! But maybe the question is why is God calling you to do this? And that is bc Will hates school! But I am also a BIG believer in "Life is hard, get a helmet" LOL I tell my kids that all the time! My brother made a comment something like we hated school too and we still had to go and we turned out fine. And that is true. But my new favorite song is "The Motions" by Matthew West. Here is the lyrics
This might hurt, it's not safe
But I know that I've gotta make a change
I don't care if I break,
At least I'll be feeling something
'Cause just okay is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of life
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
No regrets, not this time
I'm gonna let my heart defeat my mind
Let Your love make me whole
I think I'm finally feeling something
'Cause just okay is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of this life
'Cause I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
take me all the way (take me all the way)
take me all the way ('cause I don't wanna go through the motions)
take me all the way (I know I'm finally feeling something real)
take me all the way
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
take me all the way (take me all the way)
take me all the way (I don't wanna go, I don't wanna go)
take me all the way (through the motions)
take me all the way
I don't wanna go through the motions

So I guess what i am saying is yes, I could make Will go to school and just
"go through the motions" but why would I do that when I can homeschool him and I don't wanna spend my whole life asking, "What if I had given everything, instead of going through the motions?" I have spent my whole life just going through the motion doing what everyone else was doing so "No regrets, not this time I'm gonna let my heart defeat my mind" Yes, my mind is saying the same things are yours "Carrie you are NOT a teacher you can't do this!! What are you thinking!?!?! But I am gonna let my heart defeat my mind this time, no regrets no not this time. :-) Thanks for listening.
Love ya

Our Chickens

So we have had the chicks for almost 4 weeks now and I still have not post about them. So here are some photos of them when they were a few days old and then the other photos are what they look like today. Yes, we have them in a coop but we do let them free range with the dogs so that they can get use to each other. Russell just loves them and Spike really wants to get him one but he won't b/c he is such a good boy, and baby girl Bailey just wants to play with them she just pounces around them barking her little bark. :-) We will build them a pen soon but still let them free range when we can be there watching them. I will up date again when we get our 1st egg in the next 4 months or so. :-)

Big news

We have big news about a new adventure for our family. In the fall we will be pulling Will out of public school and I will be homeschooling him. This is a big deal for me since just 6 months ago I said I would NEVER homeschool! Not that I was ever against it just didn't think I could do it. But I feel God calling me to do this. And I serve a BIG and MIGHTY God and over the last 3 or 4 months He has worked on my heart and mind and I am SUPER excited about it now. And I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me. As for Cade he will remain at Redland. I have been a little nervous about telling this news as I know some people have neg. feelings about homeschooling but that is ok too.

Homemade

I have always like do it yourself but I suck at it! I can remember growing up if I wanted to repaint my room or something my mom would say ok do it and we would do it not perfect mind you but we did it! We even put wood shelves in my closet as a teenager. Then I went through a time where I wanted everything new store bought not redone but now I am wanting to do it myself again. I am starting to realize it doesn't have to be brand new store bought to look great!! We started while building this house. Me and Boyd with the help of a friend put up the wood plank walls. We also bought, put down and finished the wood floors upstair in the play room. Boyd and a friend also put up the trim and painted the whole house. Oh and they also put up the hardie plank siding on the outside of the house. Oh and we laid the sod ourselves. We did it to save money but now I am glad we did it b/c I am sooo much more proud and in love with this house b/c of all the hardwork, time and sweat we put into it. Anyway, I am also making or redoing some stuff to decorate the house. Me and my mom made the curtains for the living room.(see photo below) I also recovered one of my chairs that was suede and had gotten stained from a little boy in a wet bathing suit! Imagine that!! LOL Oh how I love my boys!! I recovered it using a painters drop cloth from Lowes!!! Got the ideal from another womans blog, thanks Marley

one on one

Tonight Cade had baseball practice so Boyd took him, so that gave me and Will one on one time together. So Will wanted to do a special project. I had saw this on another blog so I thought we would try it. We took some broken crayons and took the wrappers off. Then we put them in an mold

Then put them in the oven to melt them

Then take them out of the oven and let them cool and harden.

Then pop them out of the mold.

So here is the kitchen. I will slowly be adding more photos of each room. It is a small kitchen but I LOVE it!! Still working on decorating the top of the cabinets but it will get there. Sorry for the flash photos but the light is not good in the kitchen in the morning and I needed to take the photos while the kitchen was all clean. :-)
